Michelle Horst
Instructional Designer
Learning should be engaging and personalized. As an Instructional Designer, I develop engaging learning experiences while incorporating adult learning theory to help learners apply the concepts to their jobs. I have 14 years of experience facilitating instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual instructor-led training (VILT) for a diverse set of learners from grades 9-12 as well as for my colleagues.
Organization and efficiency is right in my wheelhouse! These skills help me stay on target, managing my time to reach goals and deadlines!
I am innovative. I collaborate as closely as I can with others when developing learning. When a collaborator, such as a subject matter expert (SME) can't be found, I conduct research on my own to try to find the necessary information. I welcome feedback regarding whether I'm going in the right direction or not!
I have used the following authoring tools necessary to complete learning experiences as an Instructional Designer: Articulate 360 Rise and Storyline, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, Canva, Camtasia, and Vyond. I am also familiar with Canvas as an LMS.
I am a master at ADDIE! I do a needs analysis to know where my learners are starting and what they need to learn. Then I design the learning for those objectives, developing any materials that will be needed in that lesson. The learning is then implemented and evaluated. Throughout this process, I am consistently reviewing each step of ADDIE and making the necessary adjustments to my lesson.
I believe in being a lifelong learner. This makes me coachable and able to take constructive criticism. I welcome feedback to improve the quality of my work!
I am tremendously into self-care. I'm passionate about bedtime routines, meditation, and exercise, just to mention a few, not just to stay physically and mentally healthy, but also to increase my focus and efficiency professionally!
I would love the opportunity to connect with you! You can email me or connect with me on LinkedIn.
